Yay! My 10th post on this blog! *throws confetti* I have decided I will, God willing, try to post every 3 days. How's that for you guys?

Today I will be reviewing a book by teenage homeschooled authors Leona and Philip Griesbach. In Danger in Detroit, we meet the Leland family - 6 homeschooled children aging from 6 to 16, and their parents. They are a closely-knit family who love each other and enjoy playing a variety of instruments, from the flute to the French horn, to serve the Lord through music.

When they take a trip to Detroit with their grandfather for a Christian conference, they never expected to be caught up in an adventure as exciting and dangerous as the one they encounter when some of the family are kidnapped. A fire alarm rings out in the night - amid the confusion the Lelands discover not all of the family is there; why is there a strange man in the hotel room, and what is he doing with their Grandpa's phone? Pressing questions are unanswered, but they must learn to trust God for wisdom and patience as they sort through the mystery.

I enjoyed the fact that this book was written by homeschooled teenagers; I think they did an good job and it was encouraging to find other children writing Godly books. I loved that the Leland children were "ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear". (1 Peter 3:15) I also appreciated the funny moments; they were well thought out and added a lot to the story. Including a doughnut delivery and an inventing uncle was clever and exciting! The only thing I found a bit weird was that the Lelands weren't as worried as I would have thought when their family members went missing. I probably wouldn't be able to attend a picnic if one of my siblings had been kidnapped the night before. This is not a huge issue though.

So, all in all, Danger in Detroit was a book which I enjoyed and would recommend to someone looking for an inspiring (for would-be authors) and godly read. It has the added bonus of being very affordable - an ebook copy costs only $2.99 on Amazon. I will add a link to it at the bottom of the post.

Well, see you next post folks! Until then,

Blessings,

~ Jemima
